Reconnecting Children to Nature: Hurray for Pollinators!

Updated: Sep 18

According to the Pollinator Partnership, birds, bats, bees, butterflies, beetles, and other small mammals that pollinate plants are responsible for bringing us one out of every three bites of food. Yet many pollinator populations are now in decline, facing nesting and habitat loss, pollution, misuse of chemicals, disease and  climate change. So pollinators need us now more than ever and we need pollinators!

So we set out to invite school participation to build pollinator gardens in schoolyards. And we weren’t disappointed! At participating schools, kids are learning about pollinators, gardens, soil, native plants, pollination, conservation, how to plant, water and weed. And you can help save pollinators too! Ask your teacher or parents for help. Plant milkweed, add native plants to your garden, avoid pesticides, and learn about pollinators. Encourage others do the same by amplifying our call to action on social media. Bee a pollinator champion!
